The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency / U.S. Coast Guard Jurisdictional Boundary Application

Launch JBA
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency / U.S. Coast Guard Jurisdictional Boundary Application (JBA) is a tool for determining the location of the USEPA and USCG agency jurisdictional boundaries. The USEPA/USCG jurisdictional boundary is a line running from the Oregon border to the Mexico border and is adjacent to the coastline.

Emergency responders in Region 9 require a means of quickly determining if a response situation is within the EPA’s or Coast Guard’s jurisdiction. The JBA accepts zipcodes, addresses, place names, topographic map names or geographic coordinates from the end user. The user is then presented with a map of the location or a list of possible locations to choose from if there are many matches.

The resulting map provides many optional datasets as background layers to aid the end user in making a determination. The primary datasets are USGS Digital Raster Graphic maps at scales of 1:24,000 and 1:250,000.
